10 Self-Care Rituals for Health Conscious Girls

1. Boost your immunity with WELLNESS tea

1 cup of tea (Chamomile, Mint, Ginger)

2 drops of Thieves Vitality™ essential oil (contains clove & cinnamon)

2 drops of Lemon Vitality™ essential oil

1 tbsp Honey

Boil water, let sit for 2 minutes off-boil. Put your honey at the bottom of the mug with the essential oils, and mix together thoroughly. Add in your tea bag, and then pour the hot water over the mixture. You will get soothing benefits and powerful immune support from two drops of Thieves and Lemon essential oils in hot water! It's that simple.

2. Make your own body-scrub

Body scrubs are great for exfoliating the skin, stimulating circulation and moving the lymph. Make up a batch of body scrub to keep in your shower for a little self-love!

DIY BODY SCRUB

In a stainless or glass bowl mix: 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar, 1/2 cup extra virgin coconut oil, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, 5 drops of Young Living Peppermint Essential Oil and 10 drops of Young Living Lemon Essential Oil.

3. Hit a local hiking trail

Turn your wanderlust a little closer to home, and discover something new nearby. Research local state parks or regional parks and check out some new hiking trails. 2018 is the year to get outdoors and get some fresh air while getting your exercise. Studies show that walking outdoors can reduce anxiety and stress, and plus, it's a good excuse to take a break from heavy workouts, screens, and clear your head. If you live in a cold climate, maybe it's time to start ice skating or snow-shoeing! Fresh air is still good for you, warm or cold. Bonus points if you bring your dog!

4.Schedule Alone Time

As boring as it might sound, scheduling alone time is one of the biggest ways to give yourself a little more love. Once you have some time just for yourself, you can focus on doing things that maybe you put on the back burner. Take a night in to read a book, practice meditating, take a long shower and go to bed early, or simply just cuddle up and watch your favorite show on your own.

5. Start Body Brushing

Show your skin a little tough love and try out dry body brushing! Dry body brushing helps shed dead skin cells which results in smoother and brighter skin. Dry brushing helps your skin to absorb nutrients by eliminating clogged pores, improves vascular blood circulation and lymphatic drainage, and could reduce the appearance of cellulite.

6. Start listening to TED TALKS

Is this really a form of self care? I think so. Taking the time to inspire your mind, expand your consciousness and challenge your personal views will give you a fresh perspective that you might have needed.

Take an evening off from entertainment and instead learn a new theory, listen to an inspiring talk or learn about what it takes to be a success in business. I love listening to ted talks to get myself inspired and motivated - it is self-care for the brain.

Some amazing Ted talks to watch:

How to Stop Screwing Yourself Over

Why 30 Is Not the New 20

Why You Will Fail to Have a Good Career

7. Commit to reading a book that will inspire you

Have a book you've been curious about collecting dust in your room? Or a wishlist on Amazon you've never ordered? Maybe it's time to give yourself a little time off and relax with a good book.

Books I'll be reading this summer:

'Judgement Detox', Gabby Bernstein

'I Am That Girl', Alexis Jones

'The Happiness Project', Gretchen Rubin

'Girl, Wash Your Face', Rachel Hollis

8.turn your own bathroom into a private spa

Self care doesn't have to mean spending hundreds of dollars on massages and facials - you can make your bathroom into a spa just as easily!

Run a hot bath with non-toxic bath bombs and a few drops of your favorite essential oil (I get mine here), light some unscented beeswax candles, put on your diffuser and your favorite playlist, paint on a face-mask, and you're good to go!

9. color in a coloring book

There's something so calming about putting a pen to paper and being fully present to one task. Even if you have no experience coloring, try putting your pen to paper in an adult coloring book (you can get these at any bookstore) and see how relaxing it can be! I find that it feels like a meditation because it allows your mind to fully focus on one activity, while engaging your hand-eye coordination. It's a great alternative to de-stressing in front of a screen.

10. MAKE ESSENTIAL OIL ROLLERS

This is probably my favorite DIY activity, and trust me, I am not a DIY girl at all.

I LOVE making roller bottles because I can customize each one to my mood, or to a specific need, and they will last me a few months. Whenever I need some oils to calm me down in traffic, I grab my "Calm" roller. When I am feeling upset or emotional, I grab my "Happy" roller. It is so fun to create with your hands and be able to soothe your emotions with hand made essential oil rollers - try it out and see how you like it!

PS: I send out free rollers to each girl that orders oils from me!
